The legal tool allows for a larger group of people who have become the casualties of illegal business acts to collectively file claims thereby significantly boosting the amount of compensation a company or a cartel may have to pay if found guilty.
The NGOs say that the instrument will have a far bigger restraining effect when it comes to illegal tampering with fair market procedures.
Legal experts on the other hand noted that there are still a number of open questions and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in Hungarian courts. (Népszabadság)
