Industry urges new wind energy tender
Monday 13:26, July 19th, 2010
The Magyar Szélenergia Társaság (MSzT) wind power interest group is calling on a government to announce a new tender for the establishment of wind power capacities. MSzT issued the plea after the Hungarian Energy Office (MEH) scrapped the related tender that was originally announced in 2009.

However, a recent decree issued by the National Development Ministry revised the legal background, the evaluation criteria as well as the conditions that warrant declaring the tender void. Due to the revisions, MEH decided it would suspend the tender.

MEH added that despite its latest decision, it still considers the utilization of renewable energy, including wind as a key priority.

In pressing for the urgent announcement of a revised tender MSzT pointed out that the original targets of creating 410 megawatts of wind capacity in the next few years would have involved nearly HUF 200 billion of new investments in Hungary. (Vg.hu, Zöldtech)
